Welcome to Proteus Class!

Proteus’ class teacher on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday is Mrs Farr and on Thursday and Friday is Mr Martin.  We work alongside our lovely teaching assistant Mrs Craigen and together we work with Neptune and Earth class to be role models for the school.

In Proteus class, you will find hard-working, enthusiastic pupils who love learning. We have a fantastic selection of TLC books including; Clockwork by Philip Pullman, Mortal Engines by Phillip Reeve and Skellig by David Almond. These texts are our inspiration for learning across the curriculum.

SATs will be taking place during the week commencing Monday 13th May 2024. We work hard to achieve the best that we can and enjoy the experience! We also offer a “Breakfast club” each morning before any tests, to allow children to enjoy eating together and calm any nerves. When children leave Hillcrest, most of them say SATs week was the highlight of their year!

After the success of last year, we will be holding our “Activity Week” in the Summer (June/July)! This week is to celebrate all the hard work the children have put in and is filled with fun activities, a school trip (or two!) and lots of time to socialise with friends before heading off to high school!

Year 6 is a very busy and exciting year, as we support and encourage children to become independent, confident learners, fully prepared to make the next step in their educational career.
