Year 3 Pluto

Welcome to Pluto Class!

My name is Miss Easter and I am delighted to be your child’s class teacher this year. I am very lucky to be joined by the amazing Mrs Gathercole, our teaching assistant, and the wonderful Mrs Farr, who will be teaching the class each Wednesday. Together, we are excited to create a positive, supportive and inspiring environment where every child can flourish.

Year 3 is such an important step as the children move into Key Stage 2. It is a time for developing independence, taking on new responsibilities and growing in confidence as learners. Just like the planet Pluto, our class will be full of curiosity and discovery. We will explore fascinating history topics, dive into engaging texts, investigate scientific questions, and express our creativity through art, design and writing. Guiding us throughout the year will be the 5Cs: to be confident, coordinated, creative, curious and great at communicating.

Reading is at the heart of Pluto Class. One of our key focuses in Year 3 is continuing to develop a genuine love for reading. It is something I personally enjoy and value, and I am passionate about sharing this with the children. Reading underpins all areas of learning, helping to build vocabulary, imagination and knowledge. We will explore a wide range of stories together, immerse ourselves in our TLC books, and encourage regular reading both in school and at home. My hope is that every child in Pluto Class discovers the joy and adventure that can always be found within the pages of a book.

Our Year 3 curriculum is carefully linked through our TLC books, which provide exciting opportunities for reading, writing, drama and discussion. These texts allow the children to make meaningful connections across subjects while developing their vocabulary, imagination and critical thinking skills.

I am very much looking forward to working in partnership with you this year and to seeing your child grow, achieve and thrive as a valued member of Pluto Class.
