Hillcrest got into the party spirit when we celebrated the Queen's Platinum Jubilee!
The day finally arrived after much planning and excitement! Miss Camus, Mr Dunne and a team of Year 6 children created an enormous bejewelled crown outline on the field for the entire school to join together in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. A drone company kindly flew above us all and captured the moment in a series of fantastic photos! Huge thanks to Plymouth Rock Technologies for donating your time!
After the crown, the children sat in a giant circle and sang two songs specially written for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee by the School Musicals Company. Reception and Key Stage 1 entertained us by signing "Street Party", while Key Stage 2 wowed the younger children with "Trooping the Colour"!
Having filled the field with our voices, the children enjoyed delicious cakes, in true garden party style.
After that, royal-themed party games filled the afternoon, while listening to musical hits from the 70s.
Inside the school, artwork from all the children was artistically put together by Miss O'Dea, in the shape of Her Majesty's profile.
Iconic images representing the Queen were studies and recreated in colour and in black and white. We think it looks amazing!
A great time was had by all!
