Welcome to Suns Class! ☀️

Welcome to Suns Class, one of our wonderful Reception classes. We are Mrs Spademan and Mrs Pepper, our class teachers, and we are supported by our fantastic teaching assistants, Miss Spiller and Mrs Walker.

Suns Class is a place where children can begin their school journey in a safe, secure, happy and nurturing environment. We love to share stories, use our imaginations and explore the world around us. Through our TLC, we encourage children to be curious, creative and excited about learning through books.

We love to learn creatively, using play, stories, art, music, movement and hands-on experiences to help children make sense of the world around them. We provide opportunities for every child to develop their own interests, ideas and imagination while building confidence and independence.

We work closely with our parallel Reception class, Moons, to provide our children with a consistent and supportive start to school. Together, we encourage the children to become fantastic learners by developing our 5 C's and helping them to become confident, resilient and enthusiastic independent learners.

Your child's Reception year marks the end of their journey through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and prepares them for their transition into the National Curriculum in Year 1. Throughout the year, we aim to provide experiences that are happy, active, exciting and fun, while supporting every child's individual development, care and learning needs.

At Suns Class, we want every child to feel happy, valued, confident and ready to learn. We look forward to sharing this exciting year of discovery, creativity and learning with your child and watching them grow and flourish.

Tapestry has become such a valuable part of our EYFS journey. It beautifully captures whole class learning experiences, from PE and cooking to special visitors and trips, as well as small group activities like painting, language games and science exploration. We also love celebrating individual ‘wow’ moments, including reading, merit certificates and other personal achievements.

Tapestry has strengthened our home-school links, by giving children and families a wonderful window into their child's school day, often helping children reflect proudly on what they’ve done and achieved. It also gives parents a special platform so they can share special moments from home; making learning feel truly shared and celebrated.
