At Hillcrest, we believe that education is about more than academic success. Our enrichment programme gives children opportunities to discover new interests, try new experiences and develop skills that will help them both in school and in the wider world.

Our Two-Year Enrichment Programme

Our enrichment programme works on a two-year cycle, allowing children to experience a wide range of opportunities during their time at Hillcrest.

2026–2027

This year, children will experience enrichment across three strands:

• 🏃 Sport & Physical
• 🎨 Creative & Culture
• 🌱 Life Skills & Wider Development

2027–2028

The programme will then alternate to include:

• 🤝 Community & Volunteering
• 🔬 STEM

Plus a strand from the previous year:

• 🏃 Sport & Physical
• 🎨 Creative & Culture
• 🌱 Life Skills & Wider Development

This means that, across the two-year cycle, children will experience opportunities across all five enrichment strands.

Developing the whole child

Enrichment is not about academic grades or tests. Instead, we focus on the personal skills children develop through their experiences.

We use our Hillcrest 5Cs to help children recognise their development:

Curious – exploring, questioning and investigating
Creative – generating ideas, solving problems and adapting
Confident – showing resilience, self-belief and reflecting on experiences
Coordinated – organising themselves and working towards goals
Communicate – working with others, listening and showing respect

Children will stay with their chosen enrichment pathways throughout the year, giving them time to develop their skills, confidence and independence through a journey of experiences.

Most importantly, enrichment is about having a go, discovering new interests, working with others and enjoying experiences beyond the usual classroom curriculum.
